So the last few weeks have held some awesome opportunities for me. It has been my intention since I started with J10Church to invest in the local High Schools and I think I am finally in through an organization called... Drumroll Please... FCA. A little background first. I attended, was a huddle leader, and on Leadership at my high school's FCA in Altamont, KS
which housed approximately 300 students out of the total population of 500 in the school itself, so as you can tell, FCA was HUGE for LCHS back in the day. This may be all due to the fact that FCA National Headquarters is located in Kansas City, a mere three hour drive from the greater Labette area. Regardless, keeping 300 students entertained for longer than five minutes was a feat in itself, but somehow the Leadership team always seemed to pull it off (and with style I would add). FCA became such a huge part of who I was and really helped me to focus my career path along with several other influences, eventually leading me to continue the relationship in college at PSU. So, FCA has been an integral part of my life for some time now and I have really seen significant impact in Students/Teachers/Leaders. So much so that it was one of my main pursuits after moving to VA and starting with J10.
Back to the point. Lately I have met with both Broad Run and Stone Bridge High School FCA Leadership teams and had an opportunity to invest in them as fully as they would allow. One high school seemed as if they didn't need any help while the other welcomed any and every opportunity to have me come by their school and hang out. I have had the opportunity to hang out with both teams twice in the last two weeks at good 'ole Starbucks and Moe's (which is where the $25 comes in). It has been a very enlightening experience to hear the different stories from the different students and try to understand what made them want to Start or continue an FCA. It has also been a God thing because doors have been opened for me to invest in some of these students' lives (hopefully bringing them into the Converge Environment). Go FCA. Go Jesus. :)
