Back-tracking a little bit here... I had to pause on the blogging to finish scheduling for the 2011 year and to clean up a few items to prepare for this year's Converge @ Night. So, week one was an interesting week as most of it I was in Kansas with the family. However, I did come back at the end of the week and was able to hang out with one of my students. We went to the big bad McD's and had some fries and McDoubles (not to be confused with Double Cheeseburgers). Even though the conversation never really went deep, it was a great opportunity to get back in the swing of Youth Ministry...

We chatted about school, about the break and how it was horrible this year, and about his leadership application. One thing I have learned by hanging out with my leadership team is that I commonly underestimate their abilities - and I feel bad about that. His ability to recognize tough questions that he had to answer and wrestle with along with his excitement about being a true "leader" really pumped me up. This year is going to be a great year, no questions about it.
