Still catching up... This week I had been thinking about what to talk about with my students this year. I want to be relevant above all else. I really want to connect with them. One of the biggest issues with connecting (as my boss and I discovered) is that when we were in youth group the culture was to go on Sunday mornings, Sunday nights & Wednesday nights. I occasionally hung out on Fridays with my youth group as well. Out here in Ashburn, VA I get one night a week with my students and it just isn't enough. So,
I used my $25 to help invest in our new student environment, Converge Sundays! We decided the best way to connect with our middle school students was to touch base with them on Sunday mornings. So that is exactly what we are doing. We invested in some chairs, carpets, environmental stuff, and One Minute Bibles. We then stole some teachers from our kids program, J-Town to supplement my role as teacher on Sunday mornings. Starting this coming Sunday, February 13th, we will be having Converge Sundays during the big church message. As for my $25, well it was a huge help with investing in these kids... Not only do we have another environment, but we have awesome material to teach with as well. Just wanted to say thanks again to my sponsor and all of his contributions!
