I had two meet-ups scheduled for week eight, but one canceled on me so I decided to wait until I had another meeting to write about. The only problem was last week I was out of town for a conference in Tulsa, OK. So on Monday of this week I was able to hang out with a second student to fulfill my $25 for week eight.
On to the important stuff...
The first student that I was able to hang out with week eight started the trend of Oreo Banana Milkshakes at Cheeburger Cheeburger. That makes three meetings in a row not that I have had one of those milkshakes. AMAZING. By the way, I love hanging out with the student I was with that day. Probably the most ridiculous student in Converge. Mainly because the things that come out of his mouth are hilarious, but also because he has a great personality. And I can connect with him on a spiritual level that I can't with most middle school students. We chatted a lot about his One Minute Bible disciplines and how he was doing with his brothers. We also talked about the new junior high bible study on Sunday mornings and how he thought it was going. And we talked a little about his own walk with Jesus. Just altogether a great conversation and a great opportunity for both of us to grow.
The second half of the $25 was spent on his brother, oddly enough. And the trend continued as we went to Cheeburger Cheeburger again and got shakes. Although our conversation never really went anywhere, it was a great to hang out with this student and get a little insight on his perspective. He is an interesting student, very smart, very funny. We talked a lot about family and how home life was/is. We also talked about school and what his plans were for next year. Like I said before, it was a great opportunity to just hang out with this student.
It will be interesting to see where I get to spend my next two weeks of $25.
